Dallas Roars!


Enjoy the last weekend of Dallas Roars! at the Dallas Zoo May 12-13. The festival features special children's activities and entertainment - roaring fun for the whole family! This weekend it's all about 'Celebrating Mom with a Butterfly Festival'.

  • Renovated Jake L. Hamon Gorilla Conservation Research Center – Enjoy watching western lowland gorillas in their beautifully landscaped habitat, renovated to enhance your viewing experience.
  • Crocodile Isle – Get an up close look at fascinating Nile crocodiles submerged in the pond or basking on the beach of their habitat. And watch them show off their athletic ability during scheduled feedings.
  • Betty Moroney Norsworthy Otter Outpost - Small and highly sociable, Asian small-clawed otters are always entertaining! See them swimming, eating, digging, grooming, and exploring their environment through underwater and exhibit viewing windows or the den “Otter-Cam.”
  • African Black-footed Penguins – These star entertainers from the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas opened in their new home in the Wilds of Africa in October 2006.
  • Travis & Zach’s Birds Landing - Feed and interact with more than 20 colorful species of friendly birds from around the world. This interactive exhibit opened at the entrance of the Lacerte Family Children’s Zoo in October 2006.
